300 years ago during the reign of Mughal Emperor Shah Alam, The Jame Masjid Basar (JMB) along with the grave yard and Idd Gaah was established & designated as a Waqf in a village called Basar approx 250 km north of Hyderabad. The last reconstruction was done 90 years ago by the late Banday-Aali sahab who was the Mutawalli designated at that time. The structure comprised of mud walls andthatched roof which was the norm during that time. Please click here for some pictures of the old structure. Over the years many environmental factors led to the structure becomming weaker. Looking at the dilapidated condition the present Mutawalli Mohammed Liquaul Haq (grandson of Bande-Aali sahab) decided to undertake the much needed reconstruction. After gaining all the approvals & permissions from the former AP State Waqf board (now Telangana Waqf Board) work began in March 2013 and ended on June 2014. The Masjid was inaugurated Alhamdulillah on the first night of Ramzan 1435 Hijri corresponding to 29th June 2014. Allah bless those who voluntered and contributed to this great cause.
A two storied RCC structure has been build with a total plinth area of 4000 sqft. This has come up with the constant endeavour of structural engineer and consultant Khaja Minhaj uddin, and our Architect Misbahuddin Wasif may Allah grant them lot of Ajar for their free of cost services. The masjid can now accomodate mashallah upto 800 people. This is a great relief to the muslim community of Basar who could never before gather in such large congregations before. The ground floor is a dedicated Musalla (prayer area) and the second floor is being utilized as a Madarsa, where at present 90 children (Including Boys and Girls) are learning to recite the Holy Quran with Tajweed and undertaking Hifz. Three teachers have been appointed. Further details on the Madrsa and its activities will be provided after Ramzan.
